The Akshay Kumar, Riteish Deshmukh and Bobby Deol starrer Housefull 4 dropped slightly while Rajkummar Rao starrer Made In China and Taapsee Pannu and Bhumika Chawla starrer Saand Ki Aankh picked up slightly in Pre-Diwali phase at the box office on the second day.
The Akshay Kumar, Bobby Deol, Riteish Deshmukh, Kriti Sanon, Kirti Kharbanda and Pooja Hegde starrer Housefull 4 held well on the second day at the box office which is a good sign considering it was pre-Diwali phase.
Housefull 4 had generated quite a buzz among the audience as it was coming at the right time of Diwali festival celebration. The songs, marketing, aggressive promotions and popular franchise all led to an opening of 40% in the morning shows. Despite the negative reviews floating around, Housefull 4 managed to generate an opening somewhere between Rs 19.08 crore from 3900 screens which is the second largest opening film of Diwali festival after Ajay Devgn starrer Golmaal Again (Rs 30.10 crore). The comedy drama is now the 9th best opening film of 2019 after WAR, Bharat, Mission Mangal, Saaho, Kesari, Kabir Singh and Gully Boy and 6th best opening film of Akshay Kumar after Mission Mangal, Gold, Kesari, Singh Is Bling and 2.0. Housefull 4 is also the highest opening film of the franchise beating the previous record of Housefull 3 (Rs 15.25 crore).
As per early trade estimates, Housefull 4 held well on the second day which is a good sign and dropped by just 5-10% to collect somewhere between Rs 17-18 crore. With this number, the two total of the comedy-drama now stands at the range of Rs 35.5-37.5 crore. The earnings should remain at the same level or might even go down since today is the main Diwali celebration. The acid test of Housefull 4 should start from Monday onwards. The budget of Housefull 4 is Rs 125 crore (Production Cost: 100 Crore including the salary cost, Prints & Advertising Cost: 25 Crore)
Made In China
Though Made In China earned decent reviews, it is not reflecting in numbers at the ticket window as Made In China continued to remain dull on the second day.
After doing a business of just Rs 1.1 crore on first day, the comedy drama managed to show slight growth with Rs 1.25 crore on the second day as per early estimates, bringing the two days collections to Rs 2.35 crore from 1100 screens. The budget of Made In China is Rs 30 Crore (Production Cost: 22 Crore & Prints & Advertising Cost: 8 Crore)
Saand Ki Aankh
Based on a true story of oldest sharpshooters Chandro and Prakashi Tomar played by Bhumi Pednekar and Taapsee Pannu, Saand Ki Aankh opened with just Rs 60 lakhs on the first day.
Since Saand Ki Aankh got the best reviews among the three films released, the earnings picked up later on the second day with Rs 1.30 crore, bringing the two days total to Rs 1.90 crore. The budget of biopic drama is Rs 28 Crore (Production Cost: 22 Crore, Prints & Advertising Cost: 6 Crore)
All three films should start doing well post-Diwali which is Monday and has 5 days to mint good money.
