Hollywood film Dwayne Johnson starrer Jumanji 2 and Rani Mukerji starrer Mardaani 2 had a superb hold well first Monday at the box office.
The Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson starrer Jumanji 2 opened to a good response in the morning shows across India which was in the range of 20-25%. This is certainly an improvement over the first part which released in 2017. The action drama already collected Rs 1.25 crore on the Thursday paid previews. The earnings went up in evening and night shows, consolidating the first day report with Rs 5.05 crore. There was a good growth on Saturday with Rs 8.35 crore followed by a good Sunday with Rs 10.10 crore, bringing the total collections to Rs 25.10 crore.
As per early estimates, the action drama held well on first Monday with Rs 3.55 crore, bringing the 4 days total to Rs 28.20 crore.
Rani Mukerji scored well with her the her first film of 2019 as Mardaani 2 impressed both the audience and the critics. The crime drama had a low start in the morning shows across India, ranging from 8-10% but reviews were extremely positive as per BookMyShow.com, which helped the earning grow well in the evening and night shows defeating the opening day collections of Mardaani (Rs 3.40 crore) and collect Rs 3.80 crore. The earnings went up by Rs 6.55 crore. The earnings were superb on Sunday with Rs 7.80 crore.
Though the opening is below expectations as it faced the Hollywood big release, Dwayne “The Rock” starrer Jumanji : The Next Level and the footfalls was strong in the multiplexes across urban centers with a good hold on Monday, collecting around Rs 2.90 crore and bringing the 4 days total to Rs 21.50 crore. Mardaani 2 is directed by Gopi Puthran who also wrote the original film and is being produced by Aditya Chopra. Mardaani 2 is made on a budget of Rs 30 Crore (Production Cost: 20 Crore & Prints & Advertising Cost: 10 Crore)
