Walchand Hirachand

He hails from a Digambar Jain family and after rounding up his education, he was made to join his family business built on money-lending and cotton trading. It didn’t take him too long to realize that none of the areas of his father’s business attracted him. He found his partner in a railway clerk and became a railway contractor for construction; saw immense success in the place where his interest lied and he went on to establish the first modern shipyard of the country.
