It has been a fabulous first week for the Hollywoodd film Dwayne Johnson starrer Jumanji 2 while the Yash Raj film produced and Rani Mukerji starrer Mardaani 2 remained intact at the box office owing to the glowing reviews.
Sequel to the 2017’s smash hit, Jumanji 2, the Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson starrer Jumanji: The Next Level was loved by the audience as the action drama kept the audience entertained. The action drama already collected Rs 1.25 crore on the Thursday paid previews but earnings went up on the first day report with Rs 5.05 crore. There was a good growth on Saturday with Rs 8.35 crore followed by further growth on Sunday with Rs 10.10 crore. On Monday, the action drama suffered the normal drop and the earnings held well over the weekdays with Rs 3.01 crores on Monday followed by Rs 2.74 crore on Tuesday and Rs 2.20 crore on Wednesday.
As per early estimates, the action drama showed stability with Rs 1.90 crore on Thursday, bringing the first week total to Rs 34.50 crore.
Owing to the fabulous reviews, Mardaani 2 impressed both the audience and the critics. Though it started slow in the morning shows across India, it picked up on later, defeating the opening day collections of Mardaani (Rs 3.40 crore) and collect Rs 3.80 crore. The earnings went up by Rs 6.55 crore on Saturday followed by a superb growth on Sunday with Rs 7.80 crore.
Though it faced the Hollywood big release, Dwayne “The Rock” starrer Jumanji : The Next Level, the footfalls was strong in the multiplexes across urban centers with a good hold on Monday, collecting Rs 2.80 crore. The earnings were stable on Tuesday with Rs 2.60 crore followed by solid Rs 2.35 crore on Wednesday. As per early estimates, the crime drama collected Rs 2.05 crore on Thursday, bringing the 7 days total to Rs 27.95 crore. Though it will cross its budget, Mardaani 2 will face two big releases today – Salman Khan starrer Dabangg 3 and Star Wars – The Rise Of Skywalker.
Mardaani 2 is directed by Gopi Puthran who also wrote the original film and is being produced by Aditya Chopra. Mardaani 2 is made on a budget of Rs 30 Crore (Production Cost: 20 Crore & Prints & Advertising Cost: 10 Crore)
