11 Feb 2021: Abhishek Bachchan-starrer 'Bob Biswas' to release in Summer 2021?

After the Centre's decision to allow cinema halls to operate with 100% occupancy, filmmakers have been gearing up to release their movies.

Now, a fresh report suggests that Shah Rukh Khan-produced crime thriller Bob Biswas will be released in Summer 2021.

Abhishek Bachchan will be seen in the lead role in the movie.

Details: The film is presently in post-production stage, source says

A source has revealed to Pinkvilla, "Bob Biswas will release in the theaters in summer 2021. The makers are presently eying May and should lock the final date in a few days."

"Abhishek and Chitrangada Singh have also completed most of their dubbing for the film, which is presently in the post-production stage," the source added.

However, an official announcement is yet to come.

Filming: The film was announced in 2019

Bob Biswas, which is a spin-off to the 2012 thriller Kahaani, was announced on November 25, 2019, and its filming began in January 2020.

The first schedule of the movie was wrapped up in February 2020, but due to the coronavirus pandemic, the shooting was stopped and later resumed after the relaxation in lockdown rules.

The film was finally completed in December 2020.

Bachchan, who was shooting for this movie in Kolkata last year, had garnered huge appreciation for his leaked look from the sets.

The actor was seen sporting a blue shirt, dark pants, and the "Bob Biwas wig," paired with big glasses.

Talking about the love his look received from fans, Bachchan had said it was an "endorsement that we are doing something right (sic)."

Directed by Sujoy Ghosh's daughter Diya Annapurna Ghosh, Bob Biswas has been produced by SRK's Red Chillies Entertainment in association with Ghosh's Bound Script Production.

The movie will also feature Amar Upadhyay, Gopal K Singh, and Purab Kohli, among others.

Vidya Balan, the star of the original movie, will also be seen in a cameo appearance, reports say.
