'Am I a Bond Girl?' Rami Malek asked after kissing Daniel Craig on 'Bond 25'

It seems that Rami Malek and Daniel Craig got a fair bit closer than James Bond and his antagonists usually do, while making new movie No Time To Die.

The Mr Robot star appeared on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, and spilled the beans on the encounter, which happened during rehearsals for the new Bond movie.

“He grabbed me and picked me up. I can’t tell who initiated the next moment, if it was him or I, but a kiss transpired between the two of us,” Malek said.

“I’m going to say that Daniel initiated it… I took a moment, caught my breath, and said, ‘Does that make me a Bond girl?'”

Asking if the clinch was welcome, Malek added: “Very much so.”

Not much is known about Malek's character – even his name is being held back by producers – other than he's the movie's main, tech-savvy villain.

Malek said that he had to ensure that there would be no religious motives to his character before accepting the role from director Cary Fukunaga.

He told press: “It’s a great character and I’m very excited. But that was one thing that I discussed with Cary. I said, ‘We cannot identify him with any act of terrorism reflecting an ideology or a religion. That’s not something I would entertain, so if that is why I am your choice then you can count me out’.

“But that was clearly not his vision. So he’s a very different kind of terrorist.”

The movie finds Daniel Craig's Bond, in his last stint in the tuxedo, no longer in active service when he's contacted by Jeffrey Wright's Felix Leiter to help investigate the disappearance of a scientist.

Per the official synopsis 'Bond must confront a danger the likes of which the world has never seen before'.

Also starring Ralph Fiennes, Naomie Harris, Lea Seydoux, Lashana Lynch, Ben Whishaw and Rory Kinnear, No Time To Die arrives at UK cinemas on 3 April, 2020.
