The biggest shopping event of the year is finally approaching, as Black Friday 2020 is just a day away.
The pre-sales have already been the biggest yet, as Amazon launched its early bird offers a whole month before the big day, which falls on 27 November, and inspired other retailers to do the same.
So far, big name brands including Currys PC World, Debenhams, John Lewis & Partners, Very and AO have all joined in on the action, but we’re expecting even bigger things in the lead up to the main event.
We’ve been patiently waiting for Amazon’s popular tablets to go on sale, and today is the day, as its best-selling Amazon Fire HD 7 device is now on offer.
Read on for everything you need to know about this early Black Friday deal, with an expert review of the device from The Independent’s technology critic.

Amazon Fire HD 7 tablet: Was £49.99, now £34.99 – Buy now
Amazon has kicked off its own-brand tablet deals with 30 per cent off the Fire HD 7 device, which was already under the £50 mark pre-sale. Given how popular the online giant’s tablets are, we think it’s worth snapping up now.
David Phelan, our technology critic, awarded the device a spot in our round-up of the best tablets, praising its affordability and reliable performance. He said: “If you only need a small display, the 7in screen here, though not high-resolution, is perfectly usable. Like the Amazon Fire HD8 Plus tablet, it is tightly integrated with Amazon’s other services such as Kindle books and Prime Video.”
“It also uses Amazon’s App Store, meaning that there are far fewer apps than you’ll find on a regular Android phone or tablet – though there are over 500,000. Performance is decent rather than outstanding but this is still a tablet definitely worth considering, mostly because of the remarkable price,” he added.
With access to a range of streaming apps including Disney+, Netflix and ITV Hub, it would make a great Christmas gift. We’re expecting more deals on Amazon’s other tablets to drop soon, but if you’ve had your eye on this best-selling model we’d buy it now to avoid it selling out.
