Playback singer, Arijit Singh's mother, who was admitted to a hospital after her condition had gotten serious, passed away in Kolkata. The sudden demise of Arijit's mother has shaken the film industry and the million fans of the singer. The second wave of COVID-19 in India has taken many innocent lives and we all are still in grave danger.
A couple of days ago, Arijit Singh's mother was admitted at the Amri Dhakuria hospital in West Bengal. While Arijit never gave any statement on the same, the singer had shared an Instagram story, urging his followers to donate blood and plasma.
According to an official statement from the hospital, Arijit Singh's mother had taken her last breath on May 19, 2021, at 11 pm in the night. It is being said that she was tested COVID-negative on May 17, 2021, but succumbed to a cerebral stroke. The family had taken the mortal remains to their home at Jiaganj in Murshidabad, West Bengal.
For those who don't know, Arijit had started his singing under his mother's influence. We remember in an interview with The Times of India, Arijit had revealed that his training in music had started from his home as his mother used to sing. He had shared, "My training in music started from my house because my grandmother used to sing, my mausi sings Indian classical music, my mama plays the table and my mother still sings. I was a decent student but cared more about music. After a point in time, I was not eligible to compete in any music competitions since I would invariably win it."
In the same interview, Arijit had revealed the food he loves and how his mother always keeps it ready whenever he is back to his home. The singer had said, "Anything Bengali. I like my maacher jhol and mishtis. But nothing can beat alu seddo, daal, bhaat and alu posto. My mom keeps it ready when I am home."
We wish Arijit and his family a lot of strength!
