Public service organisations have realised that they need to adapt their messaging to newer mediums and changing times. Over the past few months, we have seen various police forces across the country use extremely creative ways to get their point across to the public, whether it is wearing funny coronavirus headgear to create awareness or threatening to punish them with “Masakali 2.0” on loop for flouting guidelines. On social media, the Mumbai Police has set the bar high with its timely memes and contextual pop culture reference.
But now, there’s competition emerging, with the Assam Police upping their social media game. As you do these days, they just casually dropped a witty Shah Rukh Khan reference to explain social distancing to those who haven’t gotten it even after all these months. “As @iamsrk would say, "Kabhi kabhi paas aaane ke liye kuch door jaana padta hai, aur door jakar paas aane walon ko Baazigar kehte hai. Stay Six feet apart and be a Baazigar!” the tweet read.
Social Distancing can save lives.
Or as @iamsrk would say, "Kabhi kabhi paas aaane ke liye kuch door jaana padta hai, aur door jakar paas aane walon ko Baazigar kehte hai."

Not only did the smart creative garner over 1.6K retweets and 4K likes, it found a fan base beyond Assam, with social media users cheering the reference and hitting them back with more Shah Rukh Khan dialogues.
Kabie kabie dhoor rehna padta hai apno se unki salaamti aur khushhali ke liye.

One user even sent his own video, practising social distancing, Shah Rukh Khan-style.

While the Assam Police scored high on Bollywood references, it was Meghalaya Police who turned on their pun game. After intercepting a truck carrying 500 kg of marijuana, they took to social media to make the announcement in a punny manner. And everyone loved... how they rolled.
The post read “Weed like to inform the general public that, of all the Essential items permitted in the times of Corona, Marijuana ain’t one of them. Sorry for our bluntness, but that’s just how we roll!” Full marks for creativity!
Weed like to inform the general public that, of all the Essential items permitted in the times of #Corona, Marijuana ain't one of them.
Sorry for our bluntness, but that's just how we roll! 😎

Many didn’t see it coming, but appreciated the humour nonetheless.
I was about to troll you guys for typing weed instead of we'd! Well played! pic.twitter.com/XRrovKJdT5

We could all use some humour in these troubling times.
Humour in these times is a welcome sign. Kudos Meghalaya Police. Keep Shinning

The competition to become the coolest police force on social media has just begun, and we, as users are loving it. Your move, Mumbai Police.
