Atithi Bhooto Bhavah's Divinaa Thackur on Jackie Shroff: ‘In Prassthanam, He Was My Abbu Jaan, Here, He Was My Buddy’- EXCLUSIVE

In the 2019 political-thriller film Prassthanam, actress Divinaa Thackur appeared opposite some great actors like Sanjay Dutt, Manisha Koirala and Jackie Shroff. She essayed the role of Jackie’s daughter Asma, and shares that working with these stalwarts was a great learning experience for her. “When you have stalwarts like Sanjay sir, Jackie sir and Manisha ma’am, even sitting with them is a masterclass in itself, so acting with them is on another level,” she says.

Divinaa goes on to add she got to learn a lot from their experiences, professionally and personally. “I got to learn amazing nuances from them, about how calm they are and how they see their characters,” she shares.

The actress recalls one particular incident from the set of Prassthanam with her on-screen dad Jackie. “I played a Muslim girl Asma, and there was a scene where I was supposed to greet Sanjay sir and Manisha ma’am’s character. So, just before the take, Jackie sir asked me if I’ll say ‘namaste’ or ‘aadab’. I hadn’t realised it till then since it was such a small basic thing but it made a lot of difference to the character. He gave so much importance to such a small greeting scene where he wasn’t even in, and through the whole process he was guiding me. That’s how detailed they are about their art and that’s what I learned from them,” Divinaa gushes.

In her next project, Atithi Bhooto Bhavah, Divinaa has her first solo leading role opposite Scam 1992 fame actor Pratik Gandhi. The film also reunites her with Jackie, and she is all praise for him. “Jackie sir is genuinely very warm towards people around him. Even on the sets of Prassthanam he would call me and ask me to sit and just chat,” she says.

However, Divinaa insists that the dynamic between the two actors was different from their first film. “In Prassthaanam, I was a little star-struck as I had seen Jackie sir since my childhood. He is one of the most good-looking actors out there and I was so happy that he was my Abbu jaan. But in Atithi Bhooto Bhavah, he was my buddy. It was very easy for me to relate with him on the personal ground this time. We would joke a lot together and he would be very careful and concerned about me whenever I had a scene. He would check and set my hair if it was going haywire anytime. It’s a treat to listen to him and when he talks, I feel like laughing all the time as he is so jovial,” she concludes.
