Baaghi (2016) opened at Rs. 11.87 crores, thus becoming one of the biggest openers for a film featuring a young actor. This was an important film for Tiger Shroff as it was his second film after Heropanti which had turned out to be a good success and managed to serve as a good launch-pad him for him as a young action hero. Also, Baaghi was releasing almost two years after Heropanti and there were a section of people who believed that Heropanti was a flash in the pan and Tiger had certain limitations as an actor which would also act as a speed-breaker on his career as a leading man.

The opening numbers and the eventual success of the film proved the naysayers wrong and made it evidently clear to them that Tiger was determined to carve a niche for himself as an action star and he was here to stay. The film collected around Rs. 75 crores at the domestic box-office. This was a huge number for a film featuring a male actor who had just one film behind him. Baaghi 2 arrived two years later, took a much bigger opening (Rs. 25. 10 crores) and was a much bigger success (Rs. 164.38 crores) than its predecessor. So confident were the makers about the success of the film, that they announced Baaghi 3 several days before Baaghi 2 hit the theatres.

By accumulating Rs. 17.50 crores on Day 1, Baaghi 3 has turned out not just the bigger opener among the three films in the franchise but has also become the biggest opener of the year so far. The film has beaten the opening-day figure of Tanhaji The Unsung Warrior which, till recently, staked the claim for the biggest opener of the year.

There were pre-release reports suggesting a dent in collections owing to the Corona Virus scare in the country but clearly it has not really stopped a large chunk of the population from stepping out of their homes and going to the theatres. Early estimates suggest a healthy trend of the film and it remains to be seen where the film lands up after the first weekend. What is evident though is the fact that this franchise has been lapped up and given a big thumbs-up by the audience and Baaghi 3 is well on its way to becoming, perhaps, yet another hit for Tiger Shroff, Shraddha Kapoor, Sajid Nadiadwala, Ahmed Khan and everyone associated with the team.
