The Ayushhmann Khurrana, Bhumi Pednekar and Yami Gautam starrer Bala stayed afloat at the box office despite facing competition.
Ayushmann Khurrana, Bhumi Pednekar and Yami Gautam starrer Bala garnered glowing reviews which led to an amazing first week collections at Rs 72.24 crore and a good second week collections with Rs 26.56 crore. The comedy drama faced solid competition from Pagalpanti which led to a drop on third Friday but was stable at the ticket window to cross 100 crore club and becoming the 17th highest grosser of the year so far by surpassing Ajay Devgn starrer De De Pyaar De (Rs 105 crore approximately).
Bala faced the new releases and dropped to 3rd Friday with Rs 1.35 crore. The comedy drama grew to a solid Rs 2.50 crore on the second Saturday and Rs 3.20 crore on Sunday. Bala had a decent run in third week, bringing a total of Rs 109.88 crore. Due to the release of Commando 3, Bala dropped to Rs 85 lakhs on Friday. However, it shot up on Saturday with Rs 1.35 crore followed by Rs 1.85 crore (early estimates) on Sunday to bring in a total of Rs 113-114 crore after 24 days. With this, Bala has the chance to beat Akshay Kumar starrer Jolly LLB 2 (Rs 117 crore)
Bala is produced by Dinesh Vijan and tells the story of a balding prematurely guy and a dusky girl and their frustration with the fair-skinned dominated society. There is a big competition from Commando 3 which has done well in its first weekend.
