Bangalore news Live Updates:

A large number of Vokkaliga groups and organisations are holding a protest march in the city today. Large crowds are being expected for the event and there appears to be a huge mobilisation by supporters of DK Shivakumar.

Thousands of protesters, including politicians, seers and Kannada organisation members, from Bengaluru and neighbouring districts are expected to take part in the march which will begin at the National College Grounds and end at Raj Bhavan, where a memorandum will be submitted to Governor Vajubhai Vala.

Shivakumar thanked his supporters for organising a "massive protest" on Wednesday to show solidarity with him. "I wholeheartedly thank leaders, supporters, well-wishers and friends who have organised a massive protest in my support tomorrow in Bengaluru. I humbly request that the protest be peaceful and doesn’t cause any inconvenience to citizens. Please ensure the public property isn’t harmed," Shivakumar tweeted.
