We know heading back to school or university can be a bit daunting; the looming deadlines, leaving your family home for the first time and being constantly broke.

But it doesn’t have to be all that bad. Many retailers across the country offer students some of the best deals on all the student essentials, such as tech, fashion, beauty and food.

Some retailers offer students discounts in stores or directly on their site, or you can claim them via student-focused websites such as Unidays, Student Beans or NUS (the Totum card - the new name for the NUS Extra Card), which requires you to show a valid card to redeem a discount.

Whichever way you want to shop, there are plenty of brands with great discounts.

We’ve rounded up some of the best deals available so you can concentrate on being a student without having to worry about over-spending.

Top tip: if your favourite retailer isn’t on this list, do ask the cashier if they offer a student discount - they can only say no.

ASOS

This back-to-school season, look no further than ASOS for all your essentials. Luckily, if you’re a student, you can claim 10% off via the ASOS Student Validation Form via Unidays, or by entering your NUS student card number at check out.

If you love Apple products, you’re in luck. All you need to do is flash your NUS card in store to get 10% on a new Mac.
