After Salman Khan starrer Bharat minted good money at the box office in its first weekend, it fell down on Monday but was good enough to cross Total Dhamaal and Kesari to become the 2nd highest grossing film of 2019.
Salman Khan is back with a bang after he faced a tough time with last EID releases, Race 3 and Tubelight, which suffered at the box office. The Ali Abbas Zafar directed Bharat, did a good business in its first weekend. It dropped by decent numbers on its first Monday but was able to maintain the double digit figure.
Bharat took an eye-popping opening across India which was the biggest opening since Thugs Of Hindostan, bringing the jaw-dropping total to Rs 42.60 crores. The collections we’re higher than what we expected. Salman Khan has scored his biggest opening beating Sooraj Barjatya directed Prem Ratan Dhan Payo which earned a massive Rs 40.35 crores when it was released in Diwali 2015. Released in 4700 screens in domestic market and with the holiday of EID, Bharat also became the third the highest opening film of all time after Aamir Khan starrer Thugs Of Hindostan (Rs 50.75 crores in Hindi) and just shy of Shah Rukh Khan starrer Happy New Year (Rs 42.62 crores)
Since Thursday was a normal working day, Bharat showed a drop in the footfalls which was expected, collecting Rs 31 crores. There was a slight drop on Friday with around Rs 22 crores. However, the collections showed a jump on Saturday with 25% to Rs 26.20 crores. As per early trade Figure estimates, the collections got impacted in Sunday due to the crucial World Cup Cricket Match between India and Australia, collecting Rs 27.90 crores. There was a drop on Monday to Rs 10.40 crores, bringingg an overall collections to a good Rs 160.40 crores beating Ajay Devgn starrer Total Dhamaal (Rs 155.40 crores) and Akshay Kumar starrer Kesari (Rs 155.70 crores) to become the 2nd highest grossing film of 2019.
The action-drama also stars Tabu, Katrina Kaif, and Disha Patani in lead roles and will be produced by Atul Agnihotri, Alvira Khan Agnihotri and Bhushan Kumar. The film tells the chronicles of an ordinary man over the span of 60 years. Salman Khan re-unites with Abbas Ali Zafar for their third collaboration after giving blockbusters like Sultan and Tiger Zinda Hai.
