The first half of 2019 has seen some major releases like URI, Gully Boy, Kesari, Kabir Singh, Article 15 and more. The second half will witness even bigger releases and clashes coming out starting from 15th August, which will see 4 big budgeted releases over different streaming platforms and languages.
While Independence Day will see Shraddha Kapoor and Prabhas’s ‘Saaho’ in three languages, it will face competition in Hindi from Akshay Kumar and Vidya Balan’s Mission Mangal and John Abraham’s Batla House, both films will present a real life story to the Indian audience. John and Akshay had clashed release even last year on 15th August with Gold and Satyameva Jayate.
On the same festive weekend Netflix will also launch the awaited season two of Saif Ali Khan and Nawazuddin Siddiqui starrer Sacred Games 2. The show has been off the air for a while, and fans are more excited than ever, since the makers announced the launch date two days ago.
Some of the other releases 2019’s second half will see are Akshay’s comedy return Housefull 4, Hrithik’s Super 30 which almost clashed with Kangana Ranaut’s Judgementall Hai Kya. Even Salman Khan’s ‘Dabangg 3’ will be getting a big release. One more film that is expected to bring in big money is Hrithik Roshan and Tiger Shroff starrer untitled.
But there are also many interesting medium budget films like Mission Mangal (multi-starrer on India’s Mars orbiter mission in 2008), The Sky Is Pink (Shonali Bose directed Priyanka Chopra, Zaira Wasim and Farhan Akhtar starrer), Bala (Ayushmann Khurrana-starrer comedy), Chhichhore (Dangal director Nitesh Tiwari’s next).
While 2018’s second half didn’t make any progress on box office, 2019 has a lot more to offer, we also have Priyanka Chopra returning with Zaira Wasim and Farhan Akhtar in the Sky Is Pink and Ayushamnn Khurrana bring back a comedy titled, Bala alongside Nitesh Tiwari’s Chhichhore with Shushant Singh Rajput and Shraddha Kapoor.
