The Bharatiya Janata Party has promised free coronavirus vaccine for all, 19 lakh new jobs in 5 years and 30 lakh houses for the poor by 2022, among other things, in its poll manifesto for the upcoming Bihar election 2020.

Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman released the BJP’s manifesto, titled ‘Paanch sutra, ek lakshya, 11 sankalp’, in Patna in the presence of senior party leaders Bhupender Yadav, Nityanand Rai, Ashwini Choubey, Pramod Kumar and others.

The BJP manifesto takes from Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision of making an 'Atmanirbhar Bihar' or self-reliant Bihar.

Here is what the BJP has promised in its manifesto:

1. Free coronavirus vaccine for all

2. Total 19 lakh new jobs in 5 years

3. AIIMS medical college in Darbhanga

4. Appointment of 3 lakh new teachers

5. 30 lakh houses for the poor by 2022

6. New processing units in the next two years for milk production

7. MSP on pulses apart from wheat and rice

8. One lakh jobs in the health sector

“Bihar is one state where all citizens are politically sensitive and well informed. They know and understand the promises a party makes. If anyone raises questions on our manifesto, we can answer them with confidence as we fulfil what we promised,” Sitharaman said, as she released the manifesto.

"All Biharis will get free coronavirus vaccine at their home free of cost," Sitharaman added.

News agency ANI reported that the key feature of BJP’s manifesto is ‘Atmanirbhar Bihar.’

A top Bihar BJP leader told ANI that the manifesto promises to open the gate for all-round development of the state and people of the state will become self-reliant.

Bihar will go to polls on 28 October, 3 and 7 November. Counting of votes will take place on 10 November.

Congress promises free education for girls, farm loan waiver

Earlier, the Congress too released its manifesto for the Bihar Assembly polls and promised free education for girls from KG to PG, access to clean drinking water, farm loan waiver and electricity bills waiver.

The Congress is one of the key partners in the opposition Mahagathbandhan (Grand Alliance) in Bihar.

During the launch of the manifesto at Sadaqat Ashram, the Bihar Congress headquarters in Patna, Congress state in-charge Shaktisinh Gohil said if his party comes to power, the three Farm Laws passed by the National Democratic Alliance government at the Centre would be rejected by bringing separate state Farm Bills on similar lines as in Punjab.

Senior Congress leader Raj Babbar said if the party came to power, unemployed youth will get a monthly allowance of Rs 1,500 and 10 lakh permanent jobs will be created in the first cabinet meeting of the Grand Alliance government.
