A grandfather was cut with a saw and punched and kicked by masked robbers while in his own bed during a “horrible ordeal”.
The 65-year-old, who does not want to be named, suffered a fractured breastbone and small cuts to his body in the attack and needed several days of hospital treatment.
It took place after the two intruders forced their way into his home in Kingstanding, north Birmingham, at about 3am on 1 December.
They fled with cash, and police, who are trying to identify the two men, have now released photos of the grandfather’s injuries, which he is still recovering from.
The pictures show injuries to his arm and leg.
Detective Constable Richard Marsh, of West Midlands Police, said: “This was a horrible ordeal for the victim in a place he should have felt the safest.
“There’s not only the physical injuries, but the emotional distress this has caused.
"Although the men were masked we believe they were both white, in their early 20s, and had Birmingham accents.
“I would urge them to consider what they’ve done, then do the right thing and come forward.
“I’m sure they will have confided in others, having come into some money, and we also need you to have a conscience and contact us.”
