Presenting a new and aggressive face of the Indian cricket team, Suresh Raina, the left-handed middle-order batsman, is one of those cricketers who have swung on the sea-saw of their career. At times, he shone bright like the Sun in the game, while at other times he has given some slack performances too. But undoubtedly, he stormed back after every failure and caught the attention of the selectors at the national and international level.

After going through rigorous training, he became the captain of the Uttar Pradesh U-16 team. It was then that his journey to professional cricket started. The Indian selectors made him a part of the U-19 tour to England at the age of 15 years. He bagged a pair of half-centuries in those matches. The same year, he also played against Sri Lanka with the U-17 team. At the age of 16, he made his debut performance at the Ranji Trophy for Uttar Pradesh against Assam in February 2003. In 2004, he played in the U-19 World Cup and scored three half-centuries, including a 90 scored off only 38 balls. Following this, he was awarded a Border-Gavaskar scholarship to train at the Australian Cricket Academy.

He made his Test debut against Srilanka in the year 2010. It will not be an exaggeration if we give him the credit for winning the 2011 World Cup as his performance in the quarter-final and the semi-final was outstanding. Unfortunately, due to certain injuries and controversies surrounding him, Raina could not find his name on the permanent list of Indian Cricket teams.

Raina is the first Indian player to hold a century in all three formats of the game. And also, he is the second youngest cricketer to become the captain of the Indian Team. He revived his game in 2014 with a century in ODI in England. But again in the 2015 World Cup, his performance dipped and he was axed from the team. Due to personal reasons and injuries, he could not recover his image as a good player then. But lately, Raina played the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, India's domestic T20 tournament, in early 2018 and was recalled to the Indian side for the T20 series in South Africa.

Raina has played some quite magnificent strokes in the IPL series for the Chennai Super Kings. He is currently the highest run-scorer in the history of IPL.
