On the 4th day at the box office, the Hrithik Roshan and Tiger Shroff starrer WAR went up, Chiranjeevi’s pre-independence drama Sye Raa Narasimha Reddy remained on the lower while Joker kept the producers happy at the box office.
WAR, broke the record on Gandhi Jayanti holiday when it took a thunderous opening from 4000 screens across India and collected Rs 53.35 crore surpassing the record held by the Aamir Khan and Amitabh Bachchan starrer Thugs Of Hindostan, which holds the record for the highest opening day collection in Bollywood with Rs 52.25 crore (all version). The opening day collections of WAR is also the highest opening of 2019 beating the Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif starrer Bharat, which collected Rs 41.80 crore on its first day. Due to the normal working day, WAR dropped on the second day but still minted a staggering amount of Rs 24.35 crore. The hardcore action film remained stable on Friday and collected Rs 22.45 crore.
As per early trade estimates, WAR showed a very good growth by 30-35% on fourth day as compared to the third day. The action drama starring Hrithik Roshan, Tiger Shroff and Vaani Kapoor should collect somewhere between Rs 27-29 crore and bring the 4 days total to Rs 128-129 crore. The footfall has increased so expect another good business on Sunday. WAR is now the 11th highest grossing film of 2019 beating Ajay Devgn, Tabu and Rakul Preet starrer De De Pyaar De (Rs 103.64 crore)
The budget of WAR is Rs 200 Crore (Production Cost: 180 Crore, Prints & Advertising Cost: 20 Crore). The action film is directed by Siddarth Anand and is produced by Aditya Chopra under the banner of Yash Raj Films.
Sye Raa Narasimha Reddy
Sye Raa Narasimha Reddy dominated the Southern region but Chiranjeevi and Amitabh Bachchan starrer failed to click in the Hindi version. Met with average reviews, Sye Raa Narasimha Reddy collected a poor Rs 2.60 crore on its first day from 1200 screens in North India, followed by a drop on second day with Rs 1.75 crore and Rs 1.40 crore on the third day.
As per early analysis, Sye Raa Narasimha Reddy grew slightly with Rs 1.50 crore, bringing the four days collections to Rs 7.25 crore.
Welcomed with phenomenal reviews at the Venice film festival, Joaquin Phoenix starrer Joker, a spin-off character of the super hero film, Batman, impressed the audience at the city multiplexes. As per trade estimates, Joker collected a very good Rs 5.75 crore on its first day and should pick up as the days progresses. This is a very good number considering Joker not being an action-oriented super hero film but a dark psychological thriller.
Due to the normal working day, Joker dropped on the second day, minting Rs 3.75 crore but picked up again on third day with Rs 4.25 crore. The collections grew further on Saturday with Rs 6 crore (estimated), bringing the overall total to Rs 19-20 crore in three days.
