There was no big crash for both Ayushmann Khurrana and Nushrat Bharucha starrer Dream Girl and Sushant Singh Rajput starrer Chhichhore as they were unstoppable on Gandhi Jayanti at the box office.
The Nitesh Tiwari directed Chhichhore entered its fourth week now on a very good note. Despite facing new releases every other week – Dream Girl, Section 375, Prassthanam, The Zoya Factor And Pal Pal Dil Ke Paas, Chhichhore kept the momentum strong at the box office. While Dream Girl and Section 375 were appreciated, the others failed big time which led Chhichhore perform strongly with the first week run at Rs 68.83 crores. Owing to a solid word of mouth feedback, the second week collections were equally good with Rs 40.47 crores at the box office followed by another amazing Rs 24.23 crore in the third week.
Due to the absence of any new releases this week, Chhichhore held its head high and earned a very good Rs 11.07 crores on the fourth weekend. The drop was normal on fourth Monday with Rs 1.40 crore while Tuesday was superb with Rs 1.35 crore. Due to the release of WAR, Syree Narsimha Reddy and Joker on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti, Chhichhore crashed to Rs 80 lakhs on fourth Wednesday, bringing the 27 days total collections to Rs 148.15 crore and crossing the lifetime collections of Hrithik Roshan starrer Super 30 which minted Rs 147.37 crore. Produced by Sajid Nadiawala, Chhichhore is now the 7th highest grossing film of 2019.
Ayushmann Khurrana and Nushrat Bharucha starrer Dream Girl stunned every one with yet another solid growth on its 3rd Saturday and Sunday. The comedy drama remained strong at the ticket thanks to an encouraging word-of-mouth reviews from the paying audience which helped the movie to mint a staggering Rs 72.20 crore in the first week. Due to the strong reviews, Dream Girl minted a very good Rs 38.60 crore in the second week and Rs 16.20 crore in the third weekend.
Produced by Balaji Motions Pictures and Zee Studios production, Dream Girl suffered a drop on Monday with the usual Rs 2 crore. The comedy drama held well on third Tuesday with Rs 1.90 crore but went down with Rs 1.10 crore on Wednesday due to the new releases, bringing the 23 days total to Rs 132 crore. Directed by Raaj Shaandilyaa, Dream Girl is made on a budget of Rs 30 crore.
Chhichhore and Dream Girl will face the Hrithik Roshan and Tiger Shroff starrer War from 2nd October for which the advance booking collections has already started.
