If the content is good, the movie will work and this is what we learnt from last week releases-Prassthanam, The Zoya Factor And Pal Pal Dil Ke Paas which have no takers at the box office, as Ayushmann Khurrana and Nushrat Bharucha starrer Dream Girl and the Sushant Singh Rajput and Shraddha Kapoor starrer Chhichhore is raking in moolah.
The Nitesh Tiwari directed Chhichhore is simply brilliant at the box office as the film completed the first week run on a grand note collecting a solid Rs 68.83 crores in first week. The collections were good with Rs 40.47 crores in the second week at the box office.
Despite the new releases in form of Sonam Kapoor and Dulqueer Salman starrer The Zoya Factor, Sanjay Dutt starrer Prassthanam and Pal Pal Dil Ke Paas last week, Chhichhore earned a very good Rs 3.50 crores on third Friday followed by Rs 5.15 crores on 3rd Saturday. On 3rd Sunday, the comedy drama grew to Rs 7.14 crores. There was a good hold on Monday with Rs 2.07 as compared to the second Friday while Tuesday was nice with Rs 1.85 crore, bringing the 19 days total collection to Rs 129.15 crore and has solid chance of touching Rs 150 crore milestone. Produced by Sajid Nadiawala, Chhichhore has already crossed its budget of Rs 65 Crore (Production Cost: 50 Crore, Prints & Advertising Cost: 15 Crore).
Last week’s champion, Ayushmann Khurrana and Nushrat Bharucha starrer Dream Girl remained strong at the ticket thanks to an encouraging word-of-mouth reviews from the paying audience which helped the movie to mint a staggering Rs 72.50 crore.
Produced by Balaji Motions Pictures and Zee Studios production, Dream Girl faced the new releases but remained the top choice of the moviegoers, collecting a very good Rs 5.30 on second Friday followed by an outstanding Rs 9.10 crore on second Saturday and Rs 11.05 crores on 2nd Sunday. There was a very good hold on second Monday with Rs 3.75 crore. As per early estimates, the drop was good on second Tuesday with Rs 3.49 crore, bringing the 12 days total to Rs 104.80 crore. Dream Girl is now the second film of Ayushmann to cross 100 crore after Badhaai Ho. The comedy drama is also the second film of Ekta Kapoor to touch the 100 crore after Ek Villain and first film of Nushrat Bharucha and director Raaj Shaandilya.
