He’s typically pretty active on social media but now, actor Channing Tatum has revealed that he’s quit Instagram and Twitter in an attempt to “get inspired and create again.”
Before deactivating his accounts on Wednesday 7 August, the Magic Mike star shared a statement on his channels that read: "I'm gonna take a break and come off socials for a minute.
“I've been trying to get inspired and create again. And to be honest I don't really feel, or at least I haven't felt very creative on social in the last couple years now.”
The 39-year-old went on to explain that that he’s “gonna go and be just in the real world for a while,” adding that he’s trying to distance himself from his phone too.
Those who will miss Tatum sharing workout videos, snapshots of girlfriend Jessie J or confused rants about astrology apps need not worry though, as the actor said he’ll “probably come back at some point.”
Although, if he does, he’s wants to “have a direction or a clear point of view” as to why’s he doing it and “what [he’s] putting out there.”
He concluded: “Love ya! See ya after a while!”
Several of his 17.4 million followers offered up their support, with one saying: "Sometimes the best way to rebalance and clear our mind to refocus, is to completely disconnect from the noise."
"Good on you man. Take the time you need for yourself, that’s self care,” another wrote.
“Recharge, take time for yourself, be true to yourself, explore what makes your soul roar is all that matters,” a third added.
Elsewhere, White Chicks star Marlon Wayans joked: "THIS DUDE NEVER ANSWER HIS F***IN’ PHONE ANYWAY!!! SMFH"
Others claimed Tatum wasn’t using the platforms as wisely as he could have been if they made him feel so disconnected.
“Spare me. This here is just as real. Creative and academic inspiration is everywhere #onhere. You're not participating or participating in the right places if that's your take.”
