Movie : Chhichhore
Director : Nitesh Tiwari
Rating : 3.5/5
Very seldom a movie comes which makes you laugh, makes you mushy eyed and gives a message so string that it stays with you even after you leave the theaters. And if it comes from a solid director like Nitesh Tiwari, it is bound to be extra special all thanks to the thoughtful direction, inspiring story-telling & the beautiful writing which are actually the winners for Chhichhore. I am not saying that the movie only shines because of the writing, even the performances, all of them are heartfelt and entertaining to the T.
Plot : A story about 7 characters who meet decades post their college lives for a special reason and make the audience relive it by remembering why was it special and what did it taught them. Also, it is a sports film (not to forget) which makes it even more compelling to watch and has all the potential to remind you of the iconic Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikander and the hit TV-series, Hip Hip Hurray in bits & pieces. Teaching several life lessons while the process of story-telling is happening, the film will also make a point that one can still show college in a much more relatable & effective away away from the SOTY glitters. Sushant, who is really the anchor character in the film, meets all his college constants after ages and is battling a grave issue in his life along with ex-wife, Shraddha, decides to narrate his college heroics to his son who is admitted in ICU and is not showing promise. What happens next will surely remind you of your college life and just not that, one would wish to use a time-capsule to go back in those beautiful times.
What We Liked : A bevy of characters who are closer to life like Sexa, Derek, Bevda, Acid etc really makes it worth a watch and is really an integral parameter of the film being so easily relatable for anyone who has studied in a college. The beautiful story and the bounded emotions make Chhichhore a must watch and will surely warm your heart to say the least. The performances right from Sushant to Navin are rock solid and have held up to their characters. Seeing Tahir after a long time in such a lovely role was a delight and Varun proves his worth as an actor and his comic timing yet again. Yet, the hero of the film is definitely, the director, Nitesh Tiwari who is himself an IIT graduate and has taken incidents from his college life to make a film which will make you laugh & cry, both at the same time and is downright entertaining.
Why To Watch It : To relish your college life and understand the importance of friends like family in your life. Most importantly, to take a meaningful life lesson which will teach you that it is okay to fail and exam or lose a battle in life, what is important is this life which you have got and one must live it fully.
