As expected, Salman Khan starrer Dabangg 3 showed a big drop on its first Thursday but crossed its budget at the box office after 7 days.
The last two films of Dabangg have always met with issues since their releases in the month of December. Dabangg 2, released in 2012, suffered at the box office due to Nirbhaya rape case for which protest spread across India. Dabangg 3 too suffered right from day one and saw one of the weakest opening of Salman Khan. The Prabhu Deva directed action drama received mixed reactions from both critics and audience.
Due to CAA bill protest across India, Dabangg 3 minted Rs 24.50 crore. As the protest spread to different parts of India, the earnings got impacted on the second day with just Rs 24.75 crore. However, there was a good growth on Sunday as the situation turned normal, collecting a very good Rs 31.50 crore while the collections dropped huge on first Monday but still collected in double digit figure with Rs 10.70 crore. Due to pre-Christmas celebration, Dabangg 3 earned a good Rs 12 crore on Tuesday followed by Rs 15.70 crore.
As per early trade estimates, earnings of Dabangg 3 dropped on Thursday owing to the normal day after Christmas holiday and should fall between Rs 6-7 crore, bringing the 7 days total to Rs 125-15.50 crore, crossing its budget.
The action-drama also stars Sonakshi Sinha, Saiee Manjrekar and Sudeep in lead roles and will be produced by Arbaaz Khan. The budget of Dabangg 3 is Rs 125 crore.
