There were three significant Bollywood films which were released today in the past years – Mela, No One Killed Jessica and Rog. Let us check how the films fared at the box office.
After the success of Raja Hindustani, Aamir Khan and Dharmesh Darshan came back with the much awaited Mela which kicked off the 2000 year. Unfortunately, poor direction, lame screenplay and melodrama spoiled the mood of the audience who rejected the film. Mela collected Rs 15.18 crore against a budget of Rs 18 crore and turned out to be “Flop” at the box office.
No One Killed Jessica (2010)
Based on the real-life event which shocked the entire India, No One Killed Jessica captures the chronology of Jessica Lal murder case. Equipped with solid dialogues, powerful direction and outstanding performances, No One Killed Jessica turned profitable for its makers at the box office collecting Rs 29.12 crore against a budget of Rs 19 crore.
When you have Irrfan Khan featured in the film, you know that atleast you enjoy the performance of the marvelous actor. Rog was one of the under-rated film which good storyline, direction and acting but did not work at the box office, collecting Rs 2.23 crore against a budget of Rs 3.50 crore.
