There were three significant Bollywood films which were released today in the past years. Abhishek Bachchan and Keerthi Reddy starrer Tera Jadoo Chal Gaya in 2000, Ayushman Khurana, Kriti Sanon and Rajkummar Rao starrer Bareily Ki Barfi in 2017 and Ahista Ahista in 2006. Let us check how these films fared at the box office.
Tera Jadoo Chal Gaya (2000)
2000 was an important year for Bollywood as two star kids made their debut. One was Hrithik Roshan with Kaho Na Pyaar Hai and Abhishek Bachchan with Refugee. Talking about Abhishek Bachchan in particular, Refugee could not find success at the box office so his second film Tera Jadoo Chal Gaya was critical for his career. The trailer, songs and promotion ensured superb opening for the film. However, the feedback was negative and so was the content of the film which made it crashed at the box office, though the film recovered the money Rs 9.41 crores against the budget of Rs 8 crores, distributors suffered huge loss from the film.
Ahista Ahista (2006)
Ahista Ahista, released in 2006, was the second film of Abhay Deol. The romantic comedy starring Soha Ali Khan, did not take a proper opening at the box office, thanks to the low-key trailer. The result was that film turned out to be a disaster at the box office, although performances of Abhay Deol and Soha Ali Khan was appreciated. Ahista Ahista could only earn Rs 1.47 crores against the budget of Rs 4 crores.
Bareily Ki Barfi (2017)
Bareily Ki Barfi, released in 2017, might be remind you of 90’s love-triangle films like Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, Dil Toh Pagal Hai, Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam but it is the performance by the entire star cast and hilarious dialogues which will keep you at bay. Once Rajkumar Rao enters the scene, there is not turning back. The supremely talented actor brought down the house with his brilliant portrayal of Pritam. The romantic drama was a sleeper hit of the year and minted the Rs 34 crores milestone against a budget of Rs 20 crores.
