There were six significant Bollywood films which were released today in the past years – Akshay Kumar and Vidya Balan starrer Bhool Bhulaiya, Rani Mukherjee and Abhishek Bachchan starrer Laga Chunari Mein Daag, dark-thriller Tumbbad, Kajol starrer Helicopter Eela, Govinda and Varun Sharma starrer FryDay and Jalebi. Let us check how the films fared at the box office.
Bhool Bhulaiya (2007)

Remake of a Malayalam cinema, Manichitrathazhu, Bhool Bhulaiya was a run away hit with admiring performances, chart bursting songs and entertainment, minting Rs 50 crore against a budget of Rs 32 crore.
Laga Chunari Mein Daag (2007)
Second film to be directed by Pradeep Sarkar after Parineeta, the Rani Mukerji, Jaya Bachchan, Konkona Sen Sharma, Kunal Kapoor and Anupam Kher and Abhishek Bachchan starrer Laga Chunari Mein Daag was a big disappointment in terms of screenplay and story. As a result, the drama film turned out to be a flop, earning Rs 17.50 crore against a budget of Rs 20 crore.
Helicopter Eela (2018)
Kajol starrer Helicopter Eela opened to average reviews while it had the best opening among the four film – Tumbbad, FryDay and Jalebi. The film could not sustain at the ticket window, bringing the total collections to Rs 4.35 crores made on a budget of Rs 20 Crores all inclusive of prints and advertising cost which is difficult to cross.
Fry Day (2018)
The chemistry between Govinda and Varun Sharma has been appreciated but that that did help the film to earn. FryDay collected a the total collections to Rs 1.75 crores, with a budget of Rs 15 crore.
The horror flick Tumbbad received the best reviews among the four films and even showed the best stability at the ticket window. Made at a shoe string budget of Rs 5 crore, Tumbbad successfully 50 days at the box office, minting a staggering Rs 14 crore.
Produced under Mahesh Bhatt and Vishesh Films, Jalebi is a romantic drama starring Rhea Chakrabarty and Varun Mitra. While the trailer was eye-catching but reviews are average, which led the movie collect a mere Rs 2.20 crores.
