Gangaajal (2003)

Directed by Prakash Jha, who is the master story-teller of hard-hitting films, Gangaajal, released in 2003, was yet another solid cop drama that gave Ajay Devgan an edge over his career with his memorable performance as IPS Amit Kumar. Mukesh Tiwari was also praised for his portrayal of a honest police officer. The film also won the National Film Award for Best Film on Other Social Issues and was a sleeper hit at the box office.

Rock On (2008)

Directed by debutant Abhishek Kapoor, Rock On, released in 2008, marked the debut of Farhan Akhtar and was a runaway hit thanks to solid screenplay, brilliant performances, especially by Arjun Rampal who won the National Award for Best Supporting Actor, and electrifying music by Shankar-Eshaan-Loy.

Raja Natwarlal (2014)

Directed by Kunal Deshmukh and produced by Siddharth Roy Kapur, Raja Natwarlal, released in 2014, was met with mixed reviews. The movie, also starring Pakistani actress Humaima Malik and Paresh Rawal, never took off at the box office and ultimately was labelled as “Disaster”. This was the fourth flop of Emraan Hasmi after Rush, Ek Thi Daayan and Ghanchakkar.
