There were five significant Bollywood films which were released today in the past years – Salman Khan and Sonam Kapoor starrer Prem Ratan Dhan Payo, Shah Rukh Khan, Preity Zinta and Rani Mukherjee starrer Veer Zaara, Akshay Kumar, Priyanka Chopra and Kareena Kapoor starrer Aitraaz, Abhishek Bachchan and Antra Maali starrer Naach and Nagesh Kukunoor starrer Rockford. Let us check how the films fared at the box office.

Prem Ratan Dhan Payo (2015)

Directed by veteran Sooraj Barjatya, Salman Khan starrer Prem Ratan Dhan Payo was a complete family entertainer. This was the fourth time when Sooraj Barjatya and Salman Khan collaborated after giving blockbusters like Maine Pyar Kiya, Hum Aapke Hai Kaun and Hum Saath Saath Hai. Though the film was full of melodrama and inconsistent story line, audience loved it. The songs also played a major role in the success of Prem Ratan Dhan Payo which ended being a “Hit” at the box office, collecting Rs 210.16 Crore against a budget of Rs 180 crore.

Veer Zaara (2004)

Veer-Zaara tells the love story set across the border between India and Pakistan played well with audience. Directed by Yash Chopra, Veer Zaara was embraced for its beautiful story, good performances by the star cast and soul-ful music by Madan Mohan (re-created especially for this film). Veer Zaara turned out to be “Super-hit” at the box office, minting Rs 41.86 crore against a budget of Rs 23 crore.

Aitraaz (2004)

Despite facing the titan called Veer Zaara, Aitraaz was welcomed with good reviews by the critics and the audience. The Akshay Kumar, Priyanka Chopra and Kareena Kapoor thriller was directed by Abbas-Mastan and was a surprise hit of 2004, collecting Rs 15.58 crore against a budget of Rs 11 crore.

Naach (2004)

From the director of Rangeela, Satya, Shiva, Company and Bhoot, audience were expecting another brilliant movie from Ram Gopal Varma. However, Naach disappointed big time with poor direction, weak script, bad performances and decent music. The movie flopped badly at the box office, collecting Rs 3.16 crore against a budget of Rs 8.50 crore.

Rockford (1999)

If you want to re-visit your hostel life in school days, Rockford is the perfect way to cherish those memories. Beautifully directed by Nagesh Kukunoor with crispy screenplay and electrifying performances by everyone in the film, Rockford is a film not to be missed out. Another highlight of the film was its lovely music composed by Shankar Eshaan Loy.

Rockford collected Rs 37 lakhs and was made on a budget of Rs 60 lakhs.
