There were three significant Bollywood films which were released today in the past years – Sushant Singh Rajput, Parineeti Chopra and Vaani Kapoor starrer Shuddh Desi Romance, Preity Zinta, Mahima Chaudhary and Arjun Rampal starrer Dil Hai Tumhara and Manisha Koirala starrer Ek Chhotisi Love Story. Let us check how these films fared at the box office.
Shuddh Desi Romance (2013)
Directed by debutante director Maneesh Sharma, Shuddh Desi Romance was a refreshing take on a confused lover based out of Jaipur. The catchy promo and music along with light-heart romance comedy played well with audience. The highlight of the film was definitely Rishi Kapoor who will tickle your funny bone with his marvelous acting and the beautiful location of Jaipur which makes it eye-catching. At the end of the day, the film received positive reviews and turned out to be a “Hit” at the box office, collecting Rs 46.23 crores against a budget of Rs 25 crore.
Dil Hai Tumhara (2002)
After the success of Kya Kehna, veteran director Kundan Shah and Preity Zinta came back with yet another movie on relationship, love and friendship. However, the audience gave a thumbs down to the poor script and weak direction and the family drama turned out to be “Average” at the box office, collecting Rs 8.68 crores against a budget of Rs 7.65 crore
Ek Chhotisi Love Story (2002)
Any publicity for a film is always positive sign for its prospect at the box office. The feud between the director Shashilal K. Nair and Manisha Koirala over the deletion of few scenes which she found to be objectionable turned ugly that it caught the media attention and grabbed several eye ball. Manisha Koirala claimed that she was not informed about these scenes and that she had been impersonated by a body double in some shots. Result was that Ek Chhotisi Love Story turned into a bada ‘Hit” at the ticket window, minting Rs 4.83 crores against a budget of Rs 1.50 crore.
