When your baby is born, estrogen levels also start declining and all the hair which was inside resting phase start falling out. There is not much that can be done to stop hair loss after delivery. Generally, the hair comes back to their pre-pregnancy state after 6-8 months of baby’s birth. But your hair texture might change after pregnancy temporarily or even permanently. It can be extra oily or very dry, limp or broken.
However, there are several myths associated with Postpartum Hair Fall.
Breastfeeding causes hair fall as nutrition is transferred to baby -
Although it may go hand in hand, breastfeeding and hair fall are not linked directly. Even Formula Feeding Mothers would shed some hair. All mothers need to include extra protein in your diet
Keep your hair covered all the time to stop hair fall -
Keeping your hair covered will only increase room for more sweat which may result in or itchiness. Covering your head by no means can stop hair fall.
Keep your hair oiled always -
I, personally, recommend not to keep your hair oiled always. The scalp needs to breathe, oil can create an extra layer on the scalp. It’s better to let the scalp breathe naturally. Besides, more oil catches more dust. You should oil your hair overnight and rinse it the next day.
I am sharing tips for hair care, from my personal experiences:
- Make a hair pack by blending one egg white and two tablespoon olive oil well. Apply it on your hair for around 30 minutes and then rinse it off with lukewarm or cold water
- Soak fenugreek seeds in a bowl overnight. Strain the liquid and use it to massage the scalp. Next, wrap your head with a towel for four hours. Wash your hair with shampoo and apply a conditioner as usual
- Add1 part of castor oil mixed with 5 parts of coconut oil. Massage this mix, on your scalp. Leave it overnight and shampoo it well the next day
- Curd is the instant best home remedy which can be easily available in the kitchen. Curd is rich in tonics and helps you in assisting excessive hair fall. It can simultaneously improve your hair fall as well. Curd is the best conditioner for hair and just simply applying curd to hair protect you from hair fall. Apply curd on the scalp and leave it for about 10 minutes. If you want, you can add yogurt to your diet to enhance the nutritional value of your diet.
