Deepika Padukone's father and Indian badminton player Prakash Padukone has been hospitalized after testing positive for COVID-19 and is currently under recovery. Wife Ujjala and his second daughter Anisha also tested positive.
Vimal Kumar, director at Prakash Padukone Badminton Academy (PPBA), and Prakash's close friend confirmed the news and told PTI, "Around 10 days back, Prakash, his wife (Ujjala) and second daughter (Anisha), they developed symptoms and got themselves tested and the results came out to be positive."
He assured that Ujjala and Anisha had returned home and Prakash's condition is stable. "They got themselves isolated but after a week Prakash's fever didn't come down, so last Saturday, he was admitted to a hospital here in Bengaluru. He is okay now. All his parameters are fine, his wife and daughter are at home and he too will be hopefully discharged in 2-3 days," he said.
Recently, actor Deepika Padukone had shared mental health resources on her social media and talked about the importance of mental health especially during the pandemic. "As millions of us (me and my family included) strive to stay afloat, let us not forget that our emotional well-being in this current crisis, is equally important! Remember, You Are Not Alone. We are in this Together. And most importantly, there is Hope!," she wrote in the caption.
Prakash Padukone became the first Indian to win the men's singles title at the at the All England Championship in 1980. He also won the Danish Open and the Swedish Open that same year. Post-retirement he served as the Chairman of the Badminton Association of India.
