Karan Johar’s big budget, multi starrer film, Kalank with and ensemble cast, starring Varun Dhawan, Alia Bhatt, Sonakshi Sinha, Aditya Roy Kapur, Sanjay Dutt, Madhuri Dixit and Kunal Kemm opened to disappointing reviews and is now on the road to becoming a dud on the box office with a registered collection of just Rs 56 crores in four days of its opening and is headed to miss the Rs 100 crore weekend mark, as anticipated by the makers.
However, recent reports tell us that it was Deepika Padukone who was offered the film Kalank in the first place for the role of Roop, but she did not do it.
Deepika is known to have a 100 percent successful track record right from the film that changed her life, cocktail to the recent projects that have all topped the charts, as all time hits.
She has always spoken about picking films with the help of her instinct and gut feeling and successfully so, proves to have a foresight with the choice of her projects.
So did she foresee this result of the film, Kalank and hence, turned it down?
The film found its new Roop in Alia Bhatt but failed exceptionally, to impress the audiences.
What happened to this film reinforces the new found belief that content is the new king and it is extremely important for actors to not just be good performers but also pick projects carefully.
Alia will next be seen in Brahmastra, alongside Ranbir Kapoor while Deepika will be seen in Meghna Gulzar’s Chhapaak.
