Putting kajal on the eyes is the most basic of the Indian makeup look. Kajal or kohl help accentuate our signature almond shaped eyes. While today we use kajal from makeup brands like Maybelline, Lakme and L’oreal, our grandmoms used to create the blackest of kajal at home!
Here’s a video tutorial on how to make kajal at home by Youtuber Brownsmoke Makeup. Most of the equipments and ingredients you will find in your kitchen.
According to the video, here’s what you’ll need:
1. A bell metal plate (It is a form of bronze with a higher tin content) also known as Kansa plate with upward edges (Kansa is considered to be the healing metal of Ayurveda)
3. Pure almond oil
4. Cotton (used to light clay diya)
5. Mustard oil (sarso ka tel)
7. Pestle and mortar (for crushing the almonds)
8. Matchstick or lighter
