We love pumpkin carving on Halloween as much as the next person, but we can all admit the bit where you have to scoop out the middle is pretty gross. The sticky texture. The stringy bits. The WETNESS. It makes us feel a bit weird even talking about it.
But before you resort to no-carve pumpkin decorations or try to power through with your pumpkin idea, take a look at the hack that's been going viral on Facebook. Spotted by Delish, someone has shared a hack for cleaning the inside of your pumpkin in just a few minutes, using a hand mixer.
On Facebook, Nina Rutherford wrote: "I feel I need to pass on this Halloween pumpkin hack. Once you have cut the top off, get a hand mixer (with one or two whisks on it as both options work), and use this to detach all the insides of the pumpkin.
"Take the whisks right to the edge of the pumpkin so it scrapes the bits off, then just scoop out the insides that are now all mush. It has just taken me five minutes to do the inside of a pumpkin."
In the pictures, it looks like Nina popped her hand whisk inside a pumpkin with the top cut off, and managed to clear away all the goop without using her hands. Genius!
Admittedly, we imagine this ~could~ be a little damaging for your whisk, so it's worth looking into how powerful your machine is and whether it's actually capable of pulling the insides off the pumpkin wall.
Also, make sure the pumpkin insides don't just fly out all over your kitchen, because that would also be quite annoying. But hey, if it does work? You've got yourself a brilliant and fuss-free pumpkin hack.
Beyond that, happy carving!
