She was the inspiration behind Mahesh Bhatt’s Woh Lamhe, and amongst the most glamorous actresses in Bollywood who wore her sensuality with ease. Parveen Babi’s relationships with Danny Denzongpa, Kabir Bedi and Mahesh Bhatt have been chronicled widely and so has her diagnosis of Paranoid Schizophrenia which led her to believe that the international mafia and goons sent by Amitabh Bachchan were out to kill her.
She quit acting at the peak of her career and lived a reclusive life. She died a lonely death on January 20, 2005, at the age of 56.
