Elon Musk, the great outspoken entrepreneur behind SpaceX, and Tesla Inc. is now the richest person in the world.
Tesla CEO surpassed Jeff Bezos on Bloomberg Billionaires Index, a ranking of the world’s 500 wealthiest people, thanks to a 4.8% rally in the electronic carmaker’s share price Thursday. But even as his net worth touched a staggering $188.5 billion, Elon himself was raring to go back to work.
On Thursday, a Twitter account called “Tesla Owners Of Silicon Valley” shared news to the 49-year-old business magnate becoming the world’s richest person.
Over the past year, Elon’s net worth sorted by more than $150 billion.
“About half of the money is intended to help problems on Earth and a half to help establish a self-sustaining city on Mars to ensure the continuation of life in case earth gets hit by a meteor-like the dinosaurs or WW3 happens and we destroy ourselves”, Musk explains in a tweet from 2018.
After overtaking Jeff Bezos as the world’s richest person, Elon said, “Who has spoken about sending humans to Mars in the past.”
Musk says he has little interest material things and has few assets outside the stakes in his firms.
Recently, he said he wants to use his wealth to build a city on Mars.
