When Gwyneth Paltrow chose her red carpet look for the Emmys this year, she overlooked one crucial factor - whether she could actually walk in her tight-fitting gown.
The Hollywood star was given the prestigious job of announcing the Oustanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series winner, but the moment was somewhat overshadowed by her awkward shuffle across the stage as she struggled to move her legs in her dress.

Paltrow was wearing a vintage 1963 Valentino gown with a sheer black neckline and floor-sweeping sleeves, but it appeared to be the snug column skirt that was causing her problems by restricting her stride.
Emmys viewers were quick to pick up on her laboured progress across the stage, mocking her on Twitter.

Guess there's no amount of Goop that can get Gwyneth Paltrow to walk normally in that dress. #Emmys— Jessie May (@PhilanTopic) September 23, 2019

Some thought that the real problem could have been how cautious she was on her very high heels as she made her way to the microphone.
I’m very distracted by the fact that Gwyneth Paltrow is wearing shoes she clearly can’t walk in. #Emmys— Wendy Chill (@WendyAChill) September 23, 2019
I told my daughter, "WHY the hell is Gwyneth wearing them heels she can't walk in????" #Emmys— Monica Florence (@Moflo19) September 23, 2019
Gwyneth’s shuffle aside, it was a triumphant moment for Liverpudlian star Jodie Comer, who picked up the gong for her feature role in Killing Eve.
Comer was shocked at her win, which saw her chosen over co-star Sandra Oh, and admitted she’d been so sure it wasn’t her year that she hadn’t even invited her parents to the ceremony in Los Angeles.

She said: "My mum and dad, who are in Liverpool, who I didn't invite because I didn't think this was going to be my time.
"One, I'm sorry, two, I love you and I'm going to bring it home. Thank you very much."
