Police arrested four teenagers after a high-speed chase across London on Saturday morning.

The youths were dragged from their car at gunpoint after the 10-mile-long pursuit ended in Loughton.

Officers had attempted to stop the vehicle at around 9.25am on Saturday because it was wanted in connection with a knife-point robbery the previous day.

Instead of pulling over, however, the teens led the police on a 10-mile chase from Enfield in north London to Loughton in east London.

A police helicopter was scrambled to support officers on the ground.

Footage circulated on social media showed the Audi convertible ploughing through stationary traffic, forcing cars aside in a bid to escape.

An armed officer used the butt of his rifle to smash the window before his colleague helped him drag the suspects from the car.

Two 15-year-old boys were arrested on suspicion of aggravated taking and driving away of a vehicle.

Two 14-year-old girls were arrested on suspicion of possession of a bladed article and allowing themselves to be carried in a vehicle without the owner’s consent.

All four are currently in police custody.

A Met Police spokesman said: "At approximately 9.25am on Saturday, officers attempted to stop a car in the Enfield area in connection with an ongoing investigation into a knife-point robbery.

"The vehicle failed to stop for police. A pursuit was authorised with the support of the National Police Air Service.

"The suspect car collided with a number of vehicles before being stopped on Langston Road in Chigwell.

“There were no reported injuries.

"The occupants of the car have been arrested on suspicion of motoring offences, including aggravated taking and driving away.

"They have been taken to police stations where they remain in custody. Enquiries continue."
