It is the hope of every parent that their kids turn out alright. Today, teenagers are expected to follow the classic career path of going to high school, graduating, going to college, graduating once again, and finally work a job they most likely hate for the rest of their lives. According to a Forbes article released in March 2018 titled “10 Shocking Workplace Stats You Need To Know” over 53 percent of Americans are unhappy with their job. That’s over half the working population. So what happened to the American Dream? The United States is supposed to be a country founded on freedom and opportunity, but yet over half its workforce is unhappy with their jobs. While most Americans wake up, make a cup of coffee, and then proceed to travel to a job they despise, there are still a small percentage of people who are going against the status quo. These are Entrepreneurs.
Nicholas Filchkov, also known as Filchy, is a perfect example of an Entrepreneur going against the grain. As CEO of Bangerbuddy, a social media marketing company/page, Nicholas has acquired over 5 Million active fans across social media and has been seen by over 100M+ people on social media. Away from social media, the company is also selling out live events across the United States without major talent being booked at the events. The LLC is currently generating over $1M a year in revenue. The crazy part? Nicholas conducts all of his business right from the palm of his hands.
It all started when Nicholas mistakenly got into social media marketing through a failed project. At just the age of 15 years old, he was in the process of attempting to market a brand new app and populate it with users so he decided to use Instagram to build an initial following. Although he did build up a solid fan base, the app didn’t work out so he rebranded and the app turned into the college lifestyle brand known today as “Bangerbuddy”.
Nicholas’s hard work has paid off big time. Running his company from his phone has given him a tremendous amount of freedom. When we asked Nicholas about how he conducts business he said, “The most rewarding part of my job is definitely the freedom. I am able to work from anywhere I please, and anytime I please. I can work from the beach today and from a boat on the water tomorrow. If I am not feeling well or just need a day off, I don’t have to ask anyone for permission, I just take the day off.” That is the type of flexibility and lifestyle most Americans would kill for.
In a society where most people are unhappy with their jobs, Nicholas believes there is no excuse for not going after one’s dream job. He said, “It takes a lot of patience and determination. You have to push through the failures and succeed as much as you can. Lack of startup money should never be an excuse for any entrepreneur in this day and age. There are so many things you can start building on for absolutely no startup cost.”
Nicholas is an inspiration and example for many hungry entrepreneurs. At such a young age he’s already generating millions of dollars a year right from his phone screen. Nicholas Filchukov is a living example that the American Dream still exists even when we pretend it doesn’t.
