While it made a splash at the Auto Expo 2020 in its concept avatar, this is the first proper look at the Kia Compact SUV, albeit in heavy camouflage.
The Sonet will be positioned below the Seltos and is expect to arrive just before the festive season. We caught the production version on test and the images reveal that the basic design DNA has not been lost from the concept.
In the flesh, the Sonet actually looks much bigger than what its footprint might suggest. Its chunky proportions stay true to the concept and it has a slightly broad shouldered look, much like the XUV300 or the Brezza, but with more design sophistication.
The production version carries on the big tiger-nose grille, LED DRLs and the distinctive light bar at the rear sets it apart from the competition.
The show car has bigger 18-inch wheels, while the production version has 16 -inch wheels — this is what we expect for the top-end Sonet. The design is the same as the concept.
In terms of features, Kia is going one step ahead of its competition with a 10.25-inch touchscreen and a Bose audio system and all the connected tech.
We also expect two petrols and one diesel version from Kia. Like in the Seltos, the choices in terms of the automatic options would be more than in the rivals. The 1.2l would also have an intelligent manual transmission (iMT).
