A photo of Akshay Kumar and PM Narendra Modi is doing the rounds on social media with a claim that the Bollywood superstar has donated Rs 10 crore for the construction of Ram Mandir. The same picture and narrative are being peddled on many WhatsApp groups as well.
But if we go through the Twitter, Facebook and Instagram profiles of Akshay, he hasn't made any such claim. The actor is very active on social media platforms and shares all the latest updates about himself. Also, no media organisation has covered any such news.
It is unlikely that such a news goes unreported by all the media outlets. In the past, the media has widely covered the donations made by Bollywood actors, including Akshay, for social causes.
After examining the picture closely, it becomes clear that it is not a recent one. In reality, this picture was clicked when Akshay met the PM in May 2017 while pomoting his film 'Toilet - Ek Prem Katha'.
On November 9, 2019, the Supreme Court had pronounced the judgement that the grand Ram Temple must be built on 2.77 acre disputed land. After the verdict, neither has Akshay met the PM, nor has he pledged to donate Rs 10 crore for the construction of the temple.
