It is time to get fast and furious as the spin-off, Hobb & Shaw, from the blockbuster franchise kicked off yesterday with a thunderous response while Sonaskshi Sinha starrer Khandaani Shafakhana suffered at the box office on its first day.
Fast & Furious: Hobbs & Shaw
It has been almost 2 years since the last Fast & Furious film, The Fate of the Furious, debuted in 2017 with Rs 12.30 crore. Thanks to the adrenaline-pumping trailer, solid marketing and aggressive promotion over social media, Fast & Furious: Hobbs & Shaw became the must-see film of this week all over the world.
The reviews have been encouraging and the audience feedback is good in Imdb.com and Bookmyshow.com. As per early estimates, Fast & Furious: Hobbs & Shaw, starring Dwayne Johnson and Jason Statham opened to 30% occupancy in the morning shows and picked up in the evening and night shows, consolidating to a staggering Rs 12.10 crore from 2100 screens in the versions and has now become the second-best opening film in the Fast & Furious franchise after The Fate of the Furious (Rs 12.30 crore).
Sonkashi Sinha, Varun Sharma and rapper Badshaah starrer Khandaani Shafakhana was the only major Bollywood film released this week. The sex-comedy drama met with mixed reviews from critics but dismal response from the audience as per BoookMyShow.com.
As per early estimates, Khandaani Shafakhana opened to a poor occupancy with just 5-10% in the morning shows and showed limited growth in the evening and night shows, summing up to just Rs 1.15 crore on its first day.
