Filming has now wrapped on the long-awaited Bill & Ted sequel, Bill & Ted Face The Music, but writer Ed Solomon still has a few treats up his sleeve for us.

He recently posted a candid behind-the-scenes snap of one of the very best things about Bill & Ted's Bogus Journey – William Sadler's wonderful turn as the Grim Reaper.

Sadler, also known for his roles in movies like The Shawshank Redemption, The Green Mile and more recently Netflix hit When They See Us, is pictured at the lunch table on set, in his full Death make up.

For comparison, Sadler also drops a lovely snap of that fateful game of Twister from Bogus Journey, way back in 1991.

The follow up to Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure brilliantly lampooned Ingmar Bergman's solemn classic The Seventh Seal with its portrayal of Death, in which a medieval knight (Max Von Sydow) plays the Reaper at chess.

In Bogus Journey, however, Keanu Reeves' Ted ‘Theodore’ Logan and Alex Winter's Bill S. Preston at first 'Melvin' death, before playing – and soundly thrashing – Death at Battleships, Cluedo and Twister, with the reaper finally becoming their servant.

Sadler joins Reeves and Winter in reprising their roles, as does Hal Landon Jr, as Ted's no-nonsense police officer father Captain Jonathan Logan.

They're joined by Barry star Anthony Carrigan as the movie's main antagonist, Brigette Lundy-Paine and Samara Weaving as Bill and Ted's daughters Billie and Thea and rapper Kid Cudi in a so-far unspecified role.

There's also a part for Kelly Carlin, the actress, writer and daughter of the late comedy legend George Carlin, who played Rufus in both Excellent Adventure and Bogus Journey.

It finds the Wyld Stallyns frontmen being visited from the future and reminded that they've yet to write the song that will save all life in the universe, as prophesied in the previous movies.

Per the official synopsis:

“Following 1989’s Bill & Ted’s Excellent Adventure and 1991’s Bill & Ted’s Bogus Journey, the stakes are higher than ever for William “Bill” S. Preston Esq. (Winter) and Theodore “Ted” Logan (Reeves). Yet to fulfil their rock and roll destiny, the now middle-aged best friends set out on a new adventure, when a visitor from the future warns them that only their song can save life as we know it and bring harmony to the universe. Along the way, they will be helped by their families, old friends and a few music legends.”

The movie is set for release in August, 2020.
