The first poster for the Birds of Prey movie has landed – most likely ahead of the first trailer – and it's pretty out there.

Birds of Prey and The Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn, to give it its full, pretty ridiculous full name, will find Margot Robbie reprising her role from Suicide Squad.

The one-time moll of the Joker – Jared Leto's, erm, divisive version – she's now got her own movie in which to spread her wings.

As per the DC Comics, Robbie's former psychiatrist, sent mad by the Joker and into a life of crime, will lead her very of own gang of anti-heroines on the fringes of the law.

So far, all we know is that Quinn, along with Black Canary (Jurnee Smollett-Bell), Huntress (Mary Elizabeth Winstead) and Renee Montoya (Rosie Perez) are tasked with protecting Ella Jay Basco's Cassandra Cain – aka Batgirl in the DC universe – after she comes into possession of diamond belonging to Gotham crime lord Black Mask, played by Ewan McGregor.

Margot Robbie attends the "Suicide Squad"" world premiere at the The Beacon Theatre in New York, NY, on August 1, 2016.

The movie is being made by Cathy Yan, a newcomer to the world of comic book blockbusters, with Robbie also producing via her LuckyChap Entertainment company.

Margot Robbie is set to return as Harley Quinn for a third time in James Gunn’s The Suicide Squad which is currently gearing up for production, and scheduled for release in 2021.

Birds of Prey is due for release on February 7, 2020.
