The journey to the glamourous world for Actor Neetu Chandra who made her Bollywood debut in Garam Masala with actors Akshay Kumar and John Abraham was not that easy as one might think it would be. After her debut film, she was seen in films like Traffic Signal and Oye Lucky! Lucky Oye! and quite a few. However, she allegedly bagged a role in Aanand L Rai’s Tanu Weds Manu and that too the leading role opposite actor R Madavan. But apparently, she was removed and replaced by actor Kangana Ranaut in Tanu Weds Manu due to Madhavan’s recommendation, as revealed by Neetu herself.
Recalling a comment made by Madhavan in the past, wherein he claimed that he had recommended Kangana's name for the film, Neetu told Bollywood Hungama, "I'm talking about Madhavan. He said, 'There was another actress who was signed for Tanu Weds Manu, but I recommended Kangana's name'. That actress was me, the one who had signed Tanu Weds Manu earlier." She further revealed that such kind of things happened with her several times as she was removed from six films in the past.
Neetu was asked why she did not continue on the film when she was signed for the project, she replied, "How do you continue? Do you think it depends on me if I want to continue the project? For any reason, if the director thinks that the hero is recommending somebody else... I don't come from the sort of background where I can (stand my ground). I'm helpless."
Meanwhile, Kangana Ranaut won a National Award for Best Actress for Tanu Weds Manu Returns.
