India is now the fifth-largest economy in the world and the Central government debt has reduced to 48.7% of GDP from 52.2% in March 2014. Notwithstanding the dismal state of the economy, this is a sign of progress for a country of more than 1.3 Billion people.
With this in mind, here’s a look at a list of Indian states and union territories by NSDP per capita. Net state domestic product (NSDP) is the state counterpart to a country's Net domestic product (NDP), which equals the gross domestic product (GDP) minus depreciation on a country's capital goods.
This list gives the latest available nominal NSDP per capita figures for the States and Union Territories of India at current prices in Indian rupees. No data is available for the union territories of Dadra and Nagar Haveli, Daman and Diu and Lakshadweep.
The NSDP of some of these states is comparable to the GDP per capita of entire countries.
