After facing worst nightmare in the first test of the Border-Gawaskar Trophy Indian team would do important changes in the playing XI. Skipper Virat Kohli too has left the squad for his Parentile leave, Shami got ruled out from the series with a fracture; India would miss both leading players.

On the other hand KL Rahul, Shubhman Gill, Pant and Jadeja are quite set for their series debut in the second match starting from 26th December which will be Boxing Day Test at Melbourne Cricket Ground. Cricket circles would like to see important changes in the playing XI. Starting from opener Prithvi Shaw who could be replaced with KL Rahul; talented youngster Shubhman Gill will make his Test debut, replacing Virat Kohli at number 4.

Hanuma Vihari would be confusing option for India as he played on number 6 in the last match which was not usual for him as he is an opener; he could be promote to the more higher positions or could be replaced by Jadeja who will made his comeback on the tour. Jadeja could replace him at 6th or 7th position.

Wriddhiman Saha could lose his wicketkeeper’s spot to Rishabh Pant due to his bad form and not scoring expected runs in the middle. India can also think on giving Wicketkeeper’s spot to KL Rahul to play extra batting option in the middle. Team management has already being asked for not picking him after scoring blazing hundred runs ton in the practice match.

As Siraj and Saini are already a part of the squad, the BCCI is unlikely to name a replacement for Shami, who fractured his hand in the second innings while facing Pat Cummins bouncer.
