'Good Morning Britain' suffers rude onscreen blunder with accidental obscured sign

Good Morning Britain viewers got more than they bargained for earlier today when a rude word unexpectedly made its way onto screens.

It was only those watching in Yorkshire and Lincolnshire who might've seen the accidental expletive as it aired during ITV's Calendar news report, which is only available in those areas.

A scene of Scunthorpe's steels factory appeared on screen at around 6:32am, accompanied by a sign which read: "Welcome to British Steel Scunthorpe."

However, Good Morning Britain's logo and clock obscured the first letter of Scunthorpe, making for an unfortunate visual.

The blunder was not acknowledged by today's main hosts, Kate Garraway and Ben Shephard, but several viewers did pick up on it and shared the show's mistake to Twitter.

Piers Morgan, who typically presents the morning show Monday through to Wednesday alongside Susanna Reid, was not on the programme this week as he takes a break during half time.

His break came after a petition was made calling for him to be axed from the show for his comments on gender, however, he shot down claims his holiday was linked to the backlash.

Responding to a tweet stating he was being "taken off air" deliberately, Morgan replied: "When you say 'taken off air', I think you mean 'has taken himself off air to go lie under a palm tree in Beverly Hills'."

The 54-year-old posted a photo of himself at a restaurant in Malibu alongside his son Spencer and daughter Elise, who was sucking her thumb in the snap, yesterday.

He captioned the photo: "My late, great, highly rebellious grandmother Margot used to delight in wrecking every family photo by pulling silly faces. Elise, whose middle name is the same as her great-grandmother, now proudly carries the torch. Lovely spot for lunch though. @nobumaliburestaurant #Malibu."

Morgan shares Spencer and two other sons Albert and Stanley with first wife Marion Shalloe. After divorcing Shallop in 2008, he went on to marry journalist Celia Walden with whom he shares seven-year-old Elise.
